WORK IN THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARDIZATION COMMITTEE FOR CREATING AND MAINTAINING THE ISO 9000 STANDARDS

Work for the fourth version of the standards

Work for the new fourth version of ISO 9000 standards started factually in 2004 in the international standardization committee ISO TC 176 and particularly in its sub-committee SC2.

Design specifications for amending ISO 9001 and revising ISO 9004 were finalized at the standardization meeting by the technical committee ISO/TC176/SC1 in Cartagena, Colombia in May, 2005. Also a guide for the simultaneous use of ISO 9004 standard and performance excellence models were drafted.

Drafting the new versions of the ISO 9000 standards started according to the accepted design specifications at the meeting of ISO TC 176 in Panama City, in September 2005.

Practical drafting of the standards is being made in a small task groups TG. Here TG 1.20 for revising the ISO 9004 in Panama City. The new version will become the core standard of the ISO 9000 standards family and will deal with the aspects of an organization's management system as a whole necessary for sustainable success of the organization.
