WORK IN THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARDIZATION
COMMITTEE FOR CREATING AND MAINTAINING THE ISO 9000 STANDARDS
Work for the fourth version of the
standards
Work
for the new fourth version of ISO 9000 standards started factually in 2004 in
the international standardization committee ISO TC 176 and particularly in its
sub-committee SC2.
Design
specifications for amending ISO 9001 and revising ISO 9004 were finalized at the
standardization meeting by the technical committee ISO/TC176/SC1 in Cartagena,
Colombia in May, 2005. Also a guide for the simultaneous
use of ISO 9004 standard and performance excellence models were drafted.
Drafting
the new versions of the ISO 9000 standards started according to the accepted design
specifications at the meeting of ISO TC 176 in Panama City, in September 2005.
Practical
drafting of the standards is being made in a small task groups TG. Here TG 1.20
for revising the ISO 9004 in Panama City. The new version will become the core
standard of the ISO 9000 standards family and will deal with the aspects of an
organization's management system as a whole necessary for sustainable success
of the organization.
